The Island of Vitality
Mali Lošinj is the largest town in the Kvarner Bay, the beginnings of which date back to the 12th century when it gradually became a harbour. At the end of the 19th century, researchers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire discovered the medicinal effects of the island’s climate. As a result, Lošinj Island was transformed into the fashionable health resort of the Vienna aristocracy and business elite. With its ideal climate, the clean air, fragrant pine forests, the vicinity of the sea and the 250 years of medical tourism it is the perfect getaway for people with respiratory diseases and thanks to its 2800 sunny hours per year it is also home of happy and healthy people.

The Apoxyomenos Museum
A must for all visitors as it is a home of the bronz statue representing an athlete – Apoxyomenos. Believed to have been created in the 2nd or 1st century BC by a talented Greek craftsman, it was thrown in the sea during a storm while travelling to its new owner’s villa in Italy or Croatia. It was discovered in 1999 by a Belgian tourist diver and later carefully reconstructed and placed in a museum. It is the most preserved one of the eight discovered Apoxyomenos in the world.

Historic villas in the Čikat Bay
At the end of the 19th century, Čikat was recognized as a healing resort due to its specific microclimate. Prominent guests started to build their beautiful villas on the waterfront, making this place a prestigious holiday destination. Pink Villa Karolina belonged to Emperor Franz Josef and is now a favourite photography point due to its staircase leading to the sea.
Island hopping
Mali Lošinj is a great starting point for some island hopping. There are 36 islands in the Lošinj archipelago, but only 7 of them are inhebited. Discover the most beautiful pebblestone beaches and underwater world with a boat trip around the islands.

Footpath of Vitality to Veli Lošinj
The Footpath of Vitality is a 3 km long promenade along the coast. It’s an easy and slow walk, suitable for people of all ages and a perfect way to finish your day.
